Spain’s National Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT) Board of Trustees has appointed Cecilia Cabello Valdés, as its new Director General

Cecilia Cabello has a degree in Food Science and Technology from Michigan State University and a Master's degree in Science, Technology and Society from Universidad Autonoma de Madrid (UAM).

Since 2002 she has developed her professional career at FECYT managing and supervising several departments in the areas of science outreach and communication, R&D metrics and indicators, scientific information management, open science, researchers’ career development and mobility, science diplomacy, international projects and support to the internationalization of science. She has also actively participated in the European Research Framework Programmes (FP7 and H2020), being project coordinator on three occasions.

She is currently Chair of the Standing Working Group of Human Resources and Mobility of ERAC (European Research Area Committee of the European Council) and a member of Bureau the Working Group of National Experts on Science and Technology Indicators (NESTI), which brings together experts in science and technology indicators under the Committee for Science and Technology Policy of OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development).
