In the past three years, the Web of Science, a database of citations and bibliographic references has gone from indexing 72 Spanish scientific journals to indexing 173 at present. In addition, the company Thomson Reuters publishes in the database of the Journal Citation Report (JCR) the quality index that classifies journals by subject area, allowing rankings to be established of those that have received the greatest number of citations and that have the best impact factor in their category.

Following the publication of the 2010 impact factor, this report offers an analysis of the progress and the growing presence of Spanish magazines over the last few years, in the JCR, with detailed information of its subject classification and variation with regard to the quartiles in which they are classed.
